TAKOMA PARK, Md. (CBSDC) — Thousands of people marched through neighborhoods in Takoma Park and Langley Park reenacting the Stations of the Cross for Good Friday.
The tradition, not typically seen in America, is commonly practiced by Catholic parishioners abroad. The tradition of the reenactment began in Spain.
The procession, which began immediately after morning mass at Our Lady of Sorrows in Takoma Park, started at noon. It concluded roughly three miles up New Hampshire Ave. at St. Camillus Church.
Good Friday is the day Christians believe Jesus Chris was crucified before rising again on Easter Sunday.
